Gentamicin Sulfate is a powerful gram-negative and gram-positive anti-bacterial, which works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria. It is a widely used antibiotic in agar formulations due to its unique ability to withstand high temperatures during autoclave sterilization. Yes, this is 100% autoclavable!
Using Gentamicin in agar cultures will make quick work of cleaning up wild spore prints and contaminated cultures. It kills bacteria while allowing spores and mycelium to thrive.
Directions: Mix .05 grams (50 milligrams) per liter of clean water. Add in agar medium. Autoclave and pour into petri dishes.
Each gram of Gentamicin is enough to make 20 liters of anti-bacterial water. Comes sealed in an amber bottle.
This product is hygroscopic, therefore it should be kept dry and airtight as it will absorb moisture in the air and begin to cake
